ABOUT THE ROLE
Our K through 5th Classroom Teachers create an inviting, developmentally appropriate learning
environment that cultivates the attitudes, skills and knowledge our K through 5th grade students will
need for future success in school and beyond. Our Lead K through 5th teachers building strong ties
between home and school. They forge strong relationships with families and colleagues to support
student learning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Provide an inviting, developmentally appropriate learning environment that cultivates academic,
social, emotional, and physical development aligned with the DESE approved curriculum documents.
? Develop and implements daily lesson plans reflecting the individual needs, interests, and abilities of
students and curriculum goals.
? Support the program of study, using a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and
technology
? Analyze and uses appropriate data to guide instruction and develop assessments
? Assess student progress by recording daily anecdotal records and normed assessments to determine
expected growth as stated in the curriculum goals.
? Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and
interest of the students
? Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
? Communicate expectations, criteria for assessment, student progress, and student
strengths/weaknesses to parents and students
? Preview and select appropriate instructional supplies and experiences which address the social,
physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of each student.
? Provide a child-centered environment which has attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of
students' work.
? Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and
administrative regulations.
? Maintain confidentiality of information concerning students, colleagues, and parents
? Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and ethics
? Enrich the educational program by participating in local field trips and encouraging classroom visits
from various school and community persons.
? Participate in the discussion of special needs of individual children with teaching staff supervisors,
specialists, and parents. Provide necessary documentation.
? Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
? Develop activities which promote strong home/school relations.
? Communicate regularly with parents through individual parent conferences, home visits, journals,
phone calls, etc. Solicit parents’ assistance; explain and promote parent involvement through
participation and activities.
? Work closely with other community agencies (DSS, mental health, court system, churches, Smart
Start) to provide extra help for students.
? Assist with assessment of students for possible K through 5th grade participation/enrollment.
? Actively participate in professional development opportunities focused on curriculum, assessment,
and other topics in early childhood education. Take part in a collaborative professional team
environment, working with other teachers and administrators to develop, implement, and refine
instructional practices.
? Prepare and help maintain licensing and accreditation requirements.
? May be responsible for other duties as assigned.

? Possess strong and effective written and oral communication and presentation skills with all

EDUCATION
? Bachelor’s Degree in Education (required)
? Master’s Degree (preferred)
? Missouri Teaching Certification (required)
? Pass an extensive background check and be fingerprinted.
POSITION TYPE
Full-time, salaried position
SCHEDULE
School Hours: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Length of work year: Mid-August to end of May (10-month contract), up to 188 days per year, including
professional development, parent/teacher conferences, and preparatory work.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary is competitive and is based on years of experience and degree of education: $43,000 - $55,000 per
year. A competitive benefits package is also offered: medical, dental, and vision insurance, and PTO
available at all sites. Retirement, life insurance, up to $3,000/year tuition reimbursement and employee
assistance are also available.
